Cup win
marked by Council
Ards
FC's victory in the 2008 Steel & Sons Cup final was honoured by
Ards Borough Council at a Civic Reception on Wednesday night.
Winning
players, club officials and a number of supporters were
honoured guests at the Londonderry Room in the Town Hall as
the Mayor, Councillor Jim Fletcher paid tribute to the heroics
of Christmas day.
With a number
of other Councillors in attendance, the Mayor spoke of the
pride that Tommy Kincaid's players had brought to the town. He
said he also hoped that the recent decision by the Council to
back a new stadium for Newtownards would be realised in the
near future.
Over 70
guests, including most of the Ards first team squad, were in
attendance as the club were presented with a glass vase to
mark the cup victory.
