4th May 2008

Gary Clifford has brought the curtain down on his Irish League career, announcing his retirement following the Intermediate Cup final.

Gary Clifford

The Ards defender and midfielder, who will be 34 next month, said farewell to his team-mates following last Thursday's match, which was lost 1-0 to Loughgall.

Clifford played only bit parts for Ards this season, having being plagued by injury. He did manage to play in 15 games though and was a regular fixture in the team during the season run-in.

He was a First Division title winner with Distillery in 1999, where he spent most of his career, and Gary also had spells with Chimney Corner and Carrick Rangers.

All at Ards Football Club wish him well.
