Carnegie Youth League: Linfield Rangers 2-1 Ards Colts
9th January 2008

The Colts lost valuable league ground at Wilgar Park on Wednesday night as they lost to Linfield Rangers for the second time in just over a month.

Linfield had been responsible for putting Lee Forsythe's side out of the IFA Youth Cup at the start of December and they inflicted another defeat on the team this week.

The Ards team had in fact gone in front after 20 minutes when Craig McConkey scored with a great chip over the goalkeeper. Linfield were then awarded what the Ards side believed to be a harsh penalty on 44 minutes for a foul against Kerri Grant and the young Blues levelled the match.

The match remained tied until the final minute when Ards defender Mark Drysdale conceded a needless second penalty to gift Linfield the chance of a second goal and the three points, which they duly took.
