Carnegie Youth League: Ards Colts 3-2 Linfield Rangers
24th April 2008

The Colts defeated a determined Linfield side on Thursday night in their last league game of the season.

Ards, fielding their strongest line-up for a number of weeks, fully deserved their 2-0 half-time lead, set on course with a great strike by Tony Tumelty. The second goal came from the lively Thomas Gorman, who scored with an opportunist strike.

Injury to defensive lynchpin Andy Ross then forced a re-shuffle in the Ards side, causing some loss of composure and Linfield pulled a goal back five minutes later. Ards however restored their two goal lead when a Ryan Newberry free kick was headed in by Gary Sharratt.

Ex-Ards Youth player Eoin Boyle scored a second for Linfield but the Colts held on to record a confidence-boosting win against Linfield.

The Colts' final match of the season is the Youth League Cup final against Cliftonville Strollers, which will be held at Dixon Park on Wednesday 30th April (7.30)
