Ards' under 18 midfielder Ryan Newberry is currently in plaster after suffering a broken ankle in the Colts' Youth League cup win last Wednesday.

Ryan was the victim of a late tackle after just three minutes of the game against Cliftonville Strollers. He bravely struggled on for several minutes before having to come off but it wasn't until later in the evening when the extent of his injury was known.

Indeed the player remained at Dixon Park to take part in the trophy celebrations before a fracture in his right ankle was discovered.

Ryan attended Thursday night's Intermediate Cup final with several of his team mates in plaster and on crutches, a state he'll be in for the next six weeks.
