Council progresses stadium plan

At its meeting on Wednesday night, Ards Council voted to accept the recommendation that Londonderry Park be upgraded to provide a community stadium for the town.

Council members unanimously passed a motion that a funding package be put together and that the council consults with all relevant stakeholders in the development.

At a Council Services committee meeting at the start of April, councillors agreed a plan to upgrade Londonderry Park to a centre of excellence. This would incorporate third-generation pitches, improved facilities for hockey and cricket and an arena facility for football.
