Hyland
joins missing list
3rd January 2008
Regular goalkeeper Andy McDonald will return for this weekend's Intermediate Cup game but Ards will be without last week's goal-scorer Ryan Hyland.
Ryan scored with his first touch of the ball last Saturday against Carrick Rangers to level the match after coming on as a second half substitute. He had been tipped to start in a forward's position for the match against Magherafelt Sky Blues, but instead is unavailable due to a pre-planned holiday.
That creates a selection problem for Ards manager Tommy Kincaid, who is still missing injured strikers Darren Stirling (shoulder) and Ricky Billing (foot). That leaves Justin McBride and David Wright as the only two fit forwards in the first team panel, although Gary Sharratt and Tony Tumelty were both selected from the Colts panel for the last game.
Left-back Johnny Cleary will also miss the trip into County Londonderry because of a hamstring injury sustained in the match against Carrick. He had to be taken off during the game and will likely be out for two to three weeks.
Opponents Magherafelt defeated Sport & Leisure 4-2 in the last round in a game that was twice postponed, having received a bye through round one of the competition. They play in the NI Intermediate League, currently sitting fourth with three wins from five league games.
They play at Spires Park, which is located on Princess Terrace, beside the Greenvale Leisure Centre. The supporters bus will leave from outside the Sports Club at 12noon and return immediately after the game. Supporters should note the 1.30pm kick-off to allow for the possibility of extra-time and penalties.
