The fourth round of this season's Steel & Sons Cup is reached on Saturday and Ards travel to Dixon Park, Ballyclare to take on the Comrades.
After last Saturday's disappointing start to the league season, manager Tommy Kincaid will be looking to his players to show a marked improvement and confirm that last weekend's display was merely a one-off.
Ballyclare, who were promoted last season as Second Division champions, host the game as a result of Clandeboye Park's unavailability and last welcomed Ards to the venue in January 2005 for an Irish Cup tie. Ards progressed to the next round following a Marty Hunter goal in a replay and only full back Kris Pike survives from that winning side.
This weekend Ards will have to contend without influential midfielder Johnny Shaw, who is unavailable and are also denied the services of striker David Wright. Wright's registration wasn't secured in time to meet the Steel Cup's 12 day signing deadline and hence he is ineligible for this round only. Some good news is that midfielder Gary Clifford was involved in full training this week for the first time in around a month and he is likely to return to the squad.
Jamsie Kirk's Ballyclare had a winning start to the First Division last Saturday, 1-0 over Banbridge, although they have needed penalty kicks to progress in the last two rounds of the Steel and Sons, a competition the club has won on six occasions.
The game kicks off at 2.30pm and will be played to a finish. The Premier Ards Supporters will run a bus to the game leaving the social club at 1pm. The club premises will be open in advance for supporters to gather.
