Clifford And Co Strengthen Squad
20th June 2007

Ards are pleased to welcome experienced defender Gary Clifford on board for the coming season.

The former Distillery player, who turns 33 later this month, is being seen as a corner-stone of the Ards defence next season, with his experienced head expected to be a major bonus for the side.

Gary was a player Carrick Rangers for a time last season and also played for Donegal Celtic. Tommy Kincaid sees him with potential to play at the back or in midfield.

A second new signing who will be familiar to Ards fans is Stephen Johnston. The 31 year-old played in almost 40 first team games for Ards between 1997 and 1999 and most will remember him for his committed nature on the field. He was a player with East Belfast last season.

Glen Booth is another player who will feature during pre-season. He is a central midfielder who played for the Crusaders Reserves side last year.
