James made a late step up into Championship football last summer, when he left his local club Portavogie Rangers to join brother David at Ards. He was quite a stalwart at the Amateur League club, captaining the side and even acting as temporary manager for a time. He's comfortable in either centre-midfield or at the back, and he's been utilised equally in both by Ards this season. He's a bruising ball player who likes to get forward and while at Portavogie he was regular goal-scorer.
