Ross signed for Ards in January on loan from Crusaders, where manager Stephen Baxter had used the striker periodically over his three seasons with the club. While with the Seaview club, Ross picked up an Irish Cup winners medal and had been a regular in the squad last season. The diminutive striker took time to find his find in the Ards squad but a number of goals at the season's end were enough to earn a permanent move during the summer.
