2018 North Down Sports Awards.

Ards F.C. will have a keen interest in the annual North Down Sports Awards which will take place at the recently opened Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure complex in Newtownards on March 8th. Dame Mary Peters is the guest speaker on this occasion and Ards F.C. have representation in three different categories.

Jonah Heron has been nominated in the Sport Person of the Year [Under18] Award, Jonah was in the N.I. Schoolboys side that won the Victory Shield last season for only the second time in history. He was also part of the County Down Junior squad that competed in the Super Cup NI last summer. On top of that he was a key player in last season's League winning Under 16 side and has played a big part in helping the Under 18s top the Development League this season.

Steven Cairnduff is deservedly nominated in the Sports Coach of the Year category, he led the Under 16 team to the League title last season and this year has the Under 18 side at the top of the NIFL Development League, going unbeaten throughout 2018. He is also involved with the successful Regent House School team.

Finally, Ards Under 16s are nominated for the Under 18 Sports Team of the Year Award, sponsored by Belvoir Lettings. Not only did the Under 16s win their League last year but they also performed very creditably in the Mare Nostrum Tournament held in Barcelona at the end of last season, bringing credit to the club and to themselves.

Good luck to all the nominees from everyone at Ards F.C.
