ARDS U18S 0 V 2 NEWRY U18S

Our Under 18s fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newry at the Bangor Fuels Arena on Friday evening in the Under 18s Academy League. Ards had a number of half chances early in the game but couldn’t quite convert, Newry to their credit were well up for the game after Ards 5-0 victory of them the last time the two sides met. It wasn’t until the second half were Newry got the games opening goal, a long ball over the top caught out the Ards defence as their striker finished under Ryan Dalzell. That gave Newry confidence as Ards players got even more frustrated, their second came following a free kick from the right hand side that was spilled across the line despite the goalkeepers efforts to regather. A disappointing result and performance on the night but a hungry Newry side got the deserved 3 points despite them finishing the game with 10 players. Full Time Ards 0-2 Newry City Man Of The Match Kelvin Brownlee Starting XI - Dalzell (GK), Brownlee, Macrory (C), McKibben, McGirr, Duckett, McCann, Murray, Hollywood, Young, Munn Substitutes - Martin, MacDonald, Armstrong “Disappointing evening overall following last Friday nights win in the Harry Cavan Cup. We are now 4 league games without a win, we started the season 5 games without a win and then went on an 8 game unbeaten streak, so hopefully we can get back to work in training and have a fresh head going into Friday. It was very much an off night, our boys failed to get the ball down and link up with each other, Newry showed a lot more desire and hunger, despite it being 0-0 for a long period of time you could see on the night who wanted the game more”
