Lough 41 Championship. Ards vs Dundela. Clandeboye Park. Friday 23rd September at 7.45 p.m. It's back to Friday Football under the lights as Ards take on a Dundela side currently sitting in
third place with four wins from their five league games so far. The Duns also had an excellent victory over Premiership outfit Crusaders in the BetMcLean League Cup so they will be confident of a result against an Ards side with only two wins to show for the six league games played to date, languishing in ninth position just two points above the relegation play-off place. The fact that the visitors are managed by ex Ards boss Niall Currie, a popular figure with Ards fans, can only add spice to the occasion. Ards last outing looked like a bad result, but in truth three goals came late in the game, two in time added on and there were chances for the Red and Blues to take the lead on a couple of occasions when the score was 1-1. However Matthew Tipton continues to be plagued by injury worries as he ponders team selection, Dee Dee McAllister and Conal Young are still out and no less than three players, Kyle Calderwood, Patrick Cafolla and Ethan Taggart all suffered knocks and had to be substituted against Ballinamallard. Young John McGivern will obviously not be available for selection for some time after his recent health scare. Adam Salley missed the last couple of games but he and the walking wounded from Ferney Park will hopefully be fit enough to play a part against Dundela. The Dundela squad includes several faces familiar to Ards fans, Jay Magee and John McGovern are likely to form the central defence while Benny Igiehon and Willie Faulkner will also expect to play. Eoghan McCawl and Sam Dinu have both featured this season and will be pressing for a starting place. Rhys Annett and Bennie Igiehon are among the goals already, Rhys scoring regularly after coming on as a substitute and these two will no doubt keep the Ards defence on their toes.
