ARDS V INSTITUTE PREVIEW

Lough 41 Championship.

Ards vs Institute.

Clandeboye Park.

Saturday 3rd December at 3.00 p.m.

Ards fans will be glad to get back to a Saturday afternoon home game after the last two home games against Ballyclare and Newington took place on Saturday and Tuesday evening respectively. Coincidentally a ten man Ards team drew that last home game vs Ballyclare and maybe a form guide is that Institute lost 1-0 at Ballyclare last Saturday?

An Ards side missing three regulars came away from Warrenpoint with a 4-1 win last week, a first win at Milltown for the Red and Blues. Warrenpoint did press the self destruct button with two on-field red cards and one for a member of their coaching staff late in the first half when the score was 1-1. Despite a determined performance from the nine men the introduction of Salou Jallow from the substitute's bench gave Ards the impetus to score three late goals and come away with all three points.

Captain T.J.Murray who was suspended following his red card against Ballyclare, Johnny Taylor and Cricky Crane all missed the Warrenpoint game and although their replacements did well it is likely that all three will feature against Institute. Brian Donaghey's side sit five points and three places behind Ards in the League table with 23 points in eighth place compared to fifth with 28 points for the Red and Blues, but they have picked up since the start of the season and like Ards have three wins from their last five games, in fact prior to last week's defeat they had won three in a row.

Jamie Dunne is their leading goalscorer with seven goals and he is ably supported by the experienced Cathar Friel who has Premier League experience with the likes of Coleraine and Ballymena United on his CV. High scoring Ards might find the Institute defence difficult to break down as only the current top four teams have conceded fewer League goals than the men from the North West.

I can't promise the drama of last week's game but with another home game next Saturday Ards will be trying their best to get maximum points from those games to keep the pressure on the top four and it is hoped fans will turn out in their numbers to cheer them on.
