Ards v Queens Match Preview

Lough 41 Championship.

Ards vs Queen's University F.C.

Bangor Fuels Arena.

Friday 20th August @ 7.30 p.m.

Match Sponsor - Martin Phillips Carpets, Newtownards.

Ball Sponsor - Greyabbey Collectables.

This game has been switched to Friday night as Bangor are hosting a Steel and Sons cup tie on Saturday afternoon.

Ards fans will be hoping that the team can maintain the 100% start to their season that sees them second in the table behind Newry on goal difference. They will also hope that losing a day's recovery time by playing on a Friday isn't too crucial after no less than three players went off injured in last Saturday's win over the Welders. Definite absentees from this week's panel, apart from long term absentees Dee Dee McAllister and Danny Magill and the suspended Patrick Cafolla, are Darius Roohi and Jamie Glover who are both unavailable. Added to the panel are Salou Jallow and Dylan O'Kane as well as new signing Nathan O'Neill, a centre forward most recently with Ballyclare Comrades.

Queen's have had a mixed start to their season, opening with a League Cup defeat at the hands of Ballyclare, their league campaign began with a 5-0 drubbing at home to the Welders. They bounced back from that to beat Dundela 2-1 at Wilgar Park in their next game before losing 2-0 at home to Ballinamallard last Saturday. They currently sit in tenth place on goal difference with just three points from their three games played so far. Brendan Glackin might be their man to watch as he scored both goals in the win against the Duns, the only league goals Queen's have notched to date. Ards fans will recognise at least two faces in the Queen's squad, both are likely starters, Danny Devine should be in goal for the visitors having left Ards to join Queen's recently. Also in their line up should be attacking midfielder Marc McKenna who signed for Ards from Chesterfield in January 2018 and has since had a spell with Knockbreda before joining Queen's.

Referee and Assistants - not known at time of writing.
