Ards vs Dergview.
Bluefin Sport Championship.
Bangor Fuels Arena.
Tuesday 25th February @ 8.00 p.m.
Ards host Dergview for the second time this month, hoping for a repeat of the 5-2 scoreline the last time the teams met on February 8th. They will go into the game with confidence as since that result they have had a 5-1 win at Dundela and a 1-1 draw with league leaders Portadown, while thanks to the weather the visitors have only had one fixture, a 1-1 draw at the Welders last Saturday.
Ards maintained their fifth position after the draw with the Ports, while Dergview sit uncomfortably in 10th place, level with PSNI who currently occupy the relegation play-off position. Dergview do have a better goal difference and two games in hand, but they will want points to put some distance between them and the relegation zone and they will remember the 3-1 defeat inflicted on the Red and Blues at Darragh Park in September.
However, after a dreadful January, the Ards team have shown improved form this month, picking up seven points from three games and playing some good football. The McAllister brothers and recent signing Salou Jallow have been playing well and creating chances for their team mates, Salou has also chipped in with three goals in those three games.
Ards will be without Kym Nelson, who got his tenth yellow card of the season against Portadown and will consequently miss this fixture and the visit to The Dub on Saturday when Ards play QUBFC. Fortunately there were no additions to the casualty list as a result of the Portadown game so Nelson should be the only player who will need to be replaced from Saturday's squad.
The next couple of fixtures against teams in the lower half of the table gives John Bailie's men a chance to at least consolidate their top half position, not to mention getting through February undefeated!
