Ballymena United vs Ards.

Saturday December 22nd at 3.00 p.m.

Another big task facing the Red and Blues as we travel to table-topping Ballymena United this weekend. Ballymena have won their last eleven games in all competitions and are unbeaten in their last sixteen matches. They have a strong squad which has been added to by the recent confirmation that Ryan Harpur will join from Dungannon Swifts in January.

Ards are in an entirely different situation with David Elebert announcing his retirement from playing and moving to help out with coaching at the club. Add to that the imminent departure of Johnny Frazer to Australia, the long term absence of Sean Noble and Johnny Taylor's recent injury, which thankfully might not be as bad as was feared, and Colin Nixon will have his work cut out to select a side that will bring anything back from David Jeffrey's confident team.

However recent games between the sides have been close and both games this season have been decided by a single goal, unfortunately both in Ballymena's favour. However Ards put up good shows and possibly deserved something from those games. Last season Ards had two 1-0 wins against the Sky Blues, both goals courtesy of Reece Glendinning, now playing with Ballymena!

The need to start picking up points is obvious but there are few harder matches than this one. Those wanting to see this game but are put off by the thought of the Christmas traffic should use the PASC bus which leaves the Social Club/Gibson's Lane area at 1.30 p.m.
