Ards Football Club Disability Section held their annual awards last Saturday. The main award winners were:
B Team Top Goalscorer: Britney Galbraith
A Team Top Goalscorer: Samantha Smallwood Players' Player of the Year: Bailey Pyper Manager's Player of the Year: Craig Cook Jason Rossborough was also presented with the George Best Community Cup Player of the Tournament award. The George Best Community Cup is organised annually by the Irish Football Association and this year involved 70 teams from across the UK & Ireland. Jason also won this award last year. The Awards Day was also Jason's 18th birthday and this award was a fantastic way for Jason to mark his significant birthday. A new award that was presented was The Sandy Gregg Spirit of the Club Award which was donated to the club by Sandy's family in his memory. Sandy was a lifelong Ards supporter and was a member of the North End Ards Supporters Club. Sandy's daughter Pam Williamson is the Ards FC Academy Chaplain, and his son Alan Gregg was kitman for Ards back in the nineties. Four generations of the Gregg family were in attendance to see Sandy's wife Annette present the award to worthy winner Andrew Duff. A special award was also presented to coaches Louise Cooke and Michael McShane in recognition of the amazing work that they do. The club would like to thank Scrabo Ards Supporters Club, Patton's Bakery, Eastend Tanning, Joseph Long & Sons, Billy Hamilton Trophies, Eurosper Hartford link, Codfather Chip Shop, Neil Dines, Scott Crawford, Lorna Wilton and Paddy Cafolla, Karl Hamill and first team coach Daryl Philips for attending to present some of the awards.
