Glentoran vs Ards.

Glentoran vs Ards.

County Antrim Shield.

The Oval.

Tuesday 13th October @ 7.45 p.m.

Following their last minute win over Lisburn Distillery on Saturday Ards travel to the Oval to take on Glentoran in a County Antrim Shield quarter final tie.

Unfortunately Ards fans are unlikely to be in attendance as the Glens will be offering tickets for this game to their season ticket holders first and demand from them will probably exceed maximum attendance allowed under current restrictions. There is a possibility the game might be streamed and fans will be kept informed if there is any lifting of the restriction on away fans attending and with details of how to access the match if it is streamed.

The Glens will provide a real test for the Red and Blues. With the financial backing of Ali Pour they have been able to attract some quality players to the Oval, including the Donnelly brothers and midfielder Gael Bigirimana who has 13 caps for Burundi and has played for several clubs in the Scottish Premiership. He also played for Coventry City and scored in the 2017 EFL Trophy Final in which they defeated Oxford United at Wembley.

The Glens are likely to be missing Robbie McDaid through injury and Bobby Burns, Paul O'Neill and Caolan Marron who are away on International duty but they were still able to field a strong side against Bangor in Saturday's first round game which they won 2-0, a more comfortable victory than the scoreline suggests as reports say that Morris in the home goal saw little action.

After conceding an early goal Ards struggled to overcome a well organised and competitive Distillery side in their first round win and it took two second half goals from Craig McMillen to clinch the win. John Bailie will have to decide on a replacement for Danny Magill who had to be substituted on Saturday after sustaining a shoulder injury, otherwise the squad will be along similar lines to Saturday.

Don't forget to keep an eye on our various social media platforms for any updates on the attendance situation or the possible streaming of the game.
