Lough 41 Championship.
Knockbreda vs Ards.
Saturday 9th October at 3.00 p.m.
John Bailie takes his team on the short journey to Breda Park on Saturday afternoon hoping to at least maintain their position at the top of the table. It might be early in the season but that won't stop fans looking for an Ards win while keeping an eye on events at the Showgrounds, hoping that fellow table toppers Newry slip up at home to Loughgall.
Ards last visit to this venue nearly two years ago, resulted in a memorable 8-0 win for the Red and Blues but neither team will be expecting a repeat of that scoreline. Apart from the fact that there have been many changes in personnel on both sides, Knockbreda who occupy eighth place in the table with 14 points from their ten games, come into the game on the back of wins against Dergview and Institute, two sides that Ards were not able to beat in earlier games this season.
Ards had a County Antrim Shield tie on Tuesday night where John Bailie made nine changes from the starting eleven that lined up in the 3-1 win over Ballinamallard last Saturday. The players on Tuesday put on a creditable show, only losing 1-0 to Linfield, who to be fair also made several changes to their normal starting line up. Of those that played on Tuesday the likes of Ross Arthurs, James Ferrin, Conal Young and T J Murray will be hoping to find a place in Saturday's team but the display against Ballinamallard was so impressive that I'm glad I'm not having the problem of team selection! The only definite absentees will be the injured McAllister brothers and the still suspended Christopher Crane, who is missing the fourth game of his five game ban, leaving John Bailie with a sizeable squad of players who will all be hoping to be involved.
The PASC will be running a bus to the game, leaving the Social Club/Gibson's Lane at 2.15 p.m.
