Knockbreda v Ards Preview

Loughshore 41 Championship.

Knockbreda vs Ards.

Breda Park.

Saturday 8th October at 3.00 p.m.

Ards travel to Knockbreda looking to extend their winning run after consecutive home wins over Dundela and Dergview. There is little between the teams on paper, Ards sit in sixth position in the table with 12 points, while Knockbreda are in eighth place with nine points. Even the goal difference is so close that a one goal win for Knockbreda will put them above Ards in the table. Ards did have a slight edge last season with two wins and a draw from their four games but travelling fans will remember the 2-1 defeat at Breda Park in the fourth of those games last April and will take nothing for granted.

However the confidence in the Ards camp must have risen on the back of those last two performances, a strong team display against the Duns followed up with a five goal win against Dergview after going behind early on. There is also some positive news on the injury front as problems seem to be easing with only Dee Dee McAllister remaining unavailable, although he has returned to light training. Conall Young who has been on the bench recently as he works his way back to full fitness started for the Under 20s against Bangor Reserves on Wednesday night at Londonderry Park and scored in a 3-2 victory for Ards.

A win for Ards would also be a boost with the County Antrim Shield quarter final against Premiership outfit Glentoran coming up on Tuesday night, although to most fans the league points are more important, knock out football has an attraction of it's own, with the unpredictability of a one off encounter.

However Matthew Tipton and his team will look no further forward than the game at Breda Park and will be aiming for the three points to continue the climb up the League table, a victory for Ards combined with other results going in our favour would move us up to fourth place, while a defeat and a win for Ballyclare would put us back down to eighth. Hopefully there will be a big travelling support to cheer the team to a win.

The PASC bus will leave Gibson's Lane/Social Club at 2.00 p.m. All fans are welcome.
