LINFIELD V ARDS - MATCH PREVIEW

Toalsbet.com County Antrim Shield.

Linfield vs Ards.

The National Stadium.

Tuesday October 5th at 7.45 p.m

The winners of this delayed tie will have a home draw against Dundela, a game which is scheduled for Tuesday October 19th.

Ards will be hoping to continue the form displayed in their last two games against a Linfield side who are so far unbeaten this season. The visitors sit at the top of the Championship table and in spite of injuries and suspensions have performed admirably to deserve that place. The work rate and team spirit that has been evident recently will be needed in abundance if they are to shock the home side who will be hot favourites in the sponsors outlets. However, Ards fans will no doubt be hoping for a repeat of the last time their team came to play Linfield in the County Antrim Shield tie and earned a place in the semi-final courtesy of a Dee Dee McAllister goal. Of course Dee Dee remains on the injured list at present and also missing from the squad will be Christopher Crane who is in the middle of a five game suspension period. Returning to the squad that beat Ballinamallard so convincingly on Saturday evening will be Conal Young and T.J Murray who have completed their suspensions as well as leading scorer Ross Arthurs. Kym Nelson and Eamon McAllister are in the doubtful category.

Since that County Antrim Shield win in October 2017, Ards have played Linfield four times, with a win, a draw and two defeats in those games, all contested in the Premier League.

David Healy will want to win every trophy his team compete in and has a large panel at his disposal, so his team selection may reflect the fact that the league title is his main priority, however he has watched Ards on a few occasions this season and will not take them lightly.

For fans attending this game tickets are only available from the Linfield website and are priced at £10 or £6 for those under 18 or aged 65 and over. There is no cash gate on the night of the game. Those making their own way to the match are advised to park in Olympia and enter the ground using the gates at Donegall Avenue.

The P.A.S.C. will be running a bus leaving Gibson's Lane/Social Club at 6.45 p.m.
