Match Day 14. Ards vs PSNI.

Ards vs PSNI

Bluefin Sport Championship.

Bangor Fuels Arena.

Saturday 26th October at 3.00 p.m.

PSNI are another of the sides struggling for consistency this season. They started their season with a 4-0 home defeat to Ards and found wins hard to come by until they hit a purple patch and picked up ten points in four games which included wins over Newry City, Dergview and Ballyclare. Since then they have lost three out of four including a 6-1 defeat at home to Newry City last weekend. To be fair the other two defeats in that sequence were against Portadown and Ballinamallard and reports suggest their performances are better than their results.

However Ards need the three points on Saturday and fans will expect nothing less than a convincing win and performance from the Red and Blues.

Ards currently sit just five points ahead of the visitors who are in tenth place and can't afford to drop more points if they are to have any realistic hopes of being involved in the promotion battle. They should be encouraged by the fact that their opponents have the leakiest defence in the division and in 16 games in all competitions have yet to keep a clean sheet, while Ards have five so far. In League games PSNI have conceded 37 goals, almost three per game on average. While not prolific scorers, their league total of 18 goals exactly matches Ards total in the thirteen games so far.

The Ards side will be without Craig McMillen after his sending off from the bench last week, so fans will be hoping that David McAllister suffered no ill effects following his substitute appearance against Ballyclare. The only other concern is Dylan Wilson who is doubtful after his injury against the Welders.
