Match Day 17. H&W Welders vs Ards.

Updated: Nov 22, 2019

Harland and Wolff Welders vs Ards.

Bluefin Sport Championship.

Tillysburn Park.

Saturday 23rd November at 2.00 p.m.

For most teams this is match day 18, but Ards had a free Saturday last weekend as the Dergview match was postponed due to circumstances beyond the club's control, so it is actually their 17th league game. However a match-free weekend still yielded big news as it was confirmed last Saturday morning that manager Warren Feeney had resigned in order to take up a post with a club in Bulgaria. The Ards Board acted quickly and have put Craig McClean in charge on an interim basis so this will be Craig's first test.

The Welders are always a difficult side to play against and although they sit seven points behind Ards in the table and Ards did win the first league encounter 1-0, the Welders gained some revenge when they won a County Antrim Shield tie 1-0 earlier this season. Their Shield campaign ended with a 4-0 defeat at Ballymena on Wednesday night but in their previous league game they gained an impressive last minute victory away to Newry City. Ards of course had their own impressive last minute win over Ballinamallard two weeks ago and will hopefully be fresh and injury free having not played last week.

The only absentee from the regular squad is Craig McMillen who completes his two game suspension. Ben Cushnie who missed the win over Ballinamallard through illness is fit to return.

Does Craig McClean stick with the side that performed so well against Ballinamallard or does he have plans to change things around? The quickest way to find out is to get along to Tillysburn on Saturday and don't forget it is an earlier than usual 2.00 p.m. kick off.

The PASC bus will leave the Social Club/Gibson's Lane at 1.00 p.m. All supporters are welcome.

Referee : Ben McMaster.
