Match Day 20. Portadown vs Ards.

Updated: Dec 6, 2019

Portadown vs Ards.

Bluefin Sport Championship.

Shamrock Park.

Saturday December 7th at 3.00 p.m.

On current form Ards travel to take on table-topping Portadown in hope rather than expectation. The Ports have only lost two games out of nineteen in the League so far and only one in their last 16 League games. They sit six points clear at the top with Ards in mid table no less than 18 points behind, although the Red and Blues do have two games in hand, thanks to recent postponements.

Not the highest scorers in the League, Portadown have however netted 39 times this campaign with goals coming from several players, while new American goalkeeper Robert Edwards and his defensive colleagues have been doing the business at the other end of the pitch, only conceding a League best 13 goals so far.

Ards are able to add Craig McMillen to the panel after he completed his suspension last weekend, missing out on the home defeat at the hands of Knockbreda. It remains to be seen whether Craig starts the game or has a seat on the bench.

The previous meeting between the two sides was in Bangor at the end of August and was the proverbial "game of two halves". Ards roared into a 2-0 lead with a great first half performance only for the Ports to battle back and win the game 4-2.

The PASC are running a bus to this game, leaving the Gibson's Lane/Social Club area at 1.30 p.m. All fans are welcome.
