Bluefin Sport Championship.
Ferney Park, Ballinamallard.
Saturday 17th August at 3.00 p.m.
Warren Feeney's men travel to County Fermanagh on Saturday looking to get back on track after a disappointing performance and defeat at home to Newry City last week.
Although recent fixtures between the two show that Ballinamallard haven't beaten Ards in their last seven encounters, the Red and Blues can't afford to take last season's Irish Cup finalists lightly. They have retained several of their squad including veteran goalkeeper John Connolly who is 42 and the man who scored the winning goal last week at Portadown, 38 year old Ryan Campbell. The win at Portadown will have lifted the spirits of Mallards manager Harry McConkey who had seen his side lose their opening two fixtures without scoring a goal against Knockbreda and Dergview.
The fact that Knockbreda have lost their last three games since beating the Ducks, including a 7-1 League Cup thrashing at Ballyclare, while Newry City Portadown and Ballinamallard have only gathered one win each demonstrates that early season consistency is hard to find. Indeed after three rounds of matches only Dundela have a 100% record!
Ards will definitely be missing Michael McLellan who is attending a family wedding, as well as Jerry Thompson, who has a two game ban for his red card offence against Newry City. In the doubtful category are Kym Nelson and Caoimhin McConnell while it is hoped that David McAllister will be fit to return to the squad. Teenager Jonah Heron is facing a lengthy absence after the injury sustained in the friendly against East Belfast.
The PASC will not be running a bus to this fixture so if you plan to go, please make sure your car has no spare seats!
