Updated: Oct 13, 2019

Knockbreda vs Ards.

Bluefin Sport Championship

Breda Park.

Saturday 24th August at 3.00 p.m.

It's another away trip for Ards when they face Lee Forsythe's Knockbreda on Saturday. The home side started the season in style, winning 1-0 at Ballinamallard on the opening day but have since suffered four defeats, including a 7-1 mauling at the hands of Ballyclare in the League Cup. Last Saturday they lost 5-0 at home to a Portadown side that visit Ards next Friday 30th of August. Knockbreda currently sit in 11th place with three points ahead of bottom placed PSNI who are yet to get off the mark. Ards sit in joint third place with seven points, three behind early season pacemakers Dundela and Loughgall.

There have been several new signings at Breda Park so maybe they will take time to gel, among the new faces are ex Ards duo Adam Brown and Mark Johnston, while Jack Mallin joined from Bangor. Also added to the squad are Alex Pomeroy from Limavady and goalkeeper Jack Hazard from Glenavon. David Fearon who scored 17 goals in 21 games for Knockbreda last season has extended his loan from Glentoran for another season, while Brendan Bennett has re-joined the club after a brief spell with Ards.

Warren Feeney will be glad that he can add Michael McLellan to the squad and also the fit again Kym Nelson and Caoimhin McConnell. Jerry Thompson again sits out while he completes his suspension and Johnny Taylor misses out through injury after going off in the first half of the draw against Ballinamallard.

Fans travelling to the game are encouraged to use the PASC bus which will leave Gibson's Lane at 2.00 p.m.
