LARNE vs ARDS.
County Antrim Shield.
Tuesday 23rd October @ 7.45 p.m.
This should be a game worth watching between two sides full of confidence, Ards come fresh from inflicting Linfield's first league defeat this season, while Larne have only had one defeat in competitive games this season and that was at the Oval, when they lost 3-2 after extra time to Glentoran in the League Cup. Larne currently sit top of the Championship with a ten point lead over third placed Portadown and are already looking good for promotion to the Premiership next year. Backed by big money from Purple Bricks they have signed a number of talented players with Premiership experience, such as Connor Devlin, Tommy Stewart and Marty Donnelly among others, as well as a couple of players on loan from England. Consequently the crowds have flocked back to Inver Park in recent games and last Saturday's 4-0 win over Carrick Rangers had nearly as many in attendance as were at Clandeboye Park to see Ards beat Linfield!
Ards injury situation has improved, with Noble and Frazer definitely absent the only other doubt is Eamon McAllister who had to be replaced early on in the win over Linfield. Fans will hope that a strong side is selected to overcome a strong home side and make progress in a competition fans will remember Ards last won in 1994 in a pulsating final against Crusaders.
The PASC are providing transport to the game, leaving the Social Club/Gibson's Lane at 6.30 p.m. and given the parking restrictions at Inver Park fans are encouraged to leave the car at home and use the bus!
