Match Preview: Ballymena Utd (h)

20/01/18 - 3pm

Match Sponsor: Eye For Education

Ards host Ballymena United on Saturday for the first time this season.

Colin Nixon's men will be looking for revenge after three defeats, in three different competitions, at the Ballymena Showgrounds in October and November. Recent history indicated there could be a few goals scored with the last five matches between the teams providing no less than 29.

It is an opportunity for home debuts for new signings, particularly Luke Kelly who made his debut in the Crusaders game last Saturday and Cameron Stewart who signed from Linfield this week. Reece Neale and Timmy Browne who signed from Linfield Swifts recently could again be in the panel and Josh Kelly should be available after his trial at Ross County.

Missing from the squad through injury are Michael McLellan, Kyle Cherry and Jonah Mitchell, while Johnny Taylor begins a two match suspension.

Apart from manager David Jeffrey, Ballymena will have ex Ards players Joe Mckinney and Willie Faulkner in their panel, and Matthew Shevlin who was on loan at Ards last season has fought his way into the first eleven at Ballymena with seven goals so far this season.

Cool F.M. will be in attendance at this game, as part of their drive to publicise the Premiership they plan to visit all the grounds and compile a short film covering each visit which will be available online, they will possibly be looking for opinions and viewpoints from Ards fans, so get your scarf on and look intelligent and who knows?
