Match Preview: Carrick Rangers (h)

KO: 3.00 pm

Match Sponsor: The Wilton Family

Ball Sponsor: Jim Palmer

This is an important fixture for both teams, Carrick are in the relegation play-off place seven points behind Warrenpoint and thirteen points behind Ards and can't afford to lose any more ground, whereas Ards need to get back on track after a demoralising 2-1 defeat in the Irish Cup at the hands of Loughgall last time out.

Team selection will be affected by the loss of Cherry, Ruddy and new signing Ross Clarke who were all sent off last week, although Elebert and Luke Kelly should return to the squad as should club captain Tommons.

Carrick made no fewer than eight signings during the transfer window, including much travelled striker Darren Henderson and Ralph Kottoy who impressed when playing for Larne against the Red and Blues earlier this season. Their recent form has been poor to say the least, only two draws to show from their last 15 league games and no goals from their last four games. The Spirit of 79 club is running a free bus for fans in an attempt to get a good crowd behind the team and boost their chances of getting something from the game, whereas Ards will be determined they return home empty handed.

The two previous League encounters between the teams have been tight affairs but both ended 1-0 in favour of Ards, with midfielder Scott Davidson scoring the only goal in each game.
