Match Preview: Coleraine (h)

ARDS vs COLERAINE

DANSKE BANK PREMIERSHIP

CLANDEBOYE PARK

SATURDAY 15th SEPTEMBER 2018

KO 3pm

Following Oran Kearney's departure to St Mirren, interim manager Trevor McKendry brings high-flying Coleraine to take on Ards. As well as losing their manager, Coleraine will also be without the services of Brad Lyons who has gone to Blackburn Rovers on trial with an agreement to transfer in the January window. In spite of these absences Coleraine will fancy their chances, having beaten Ards three times last season on their way to a League runners-up position and an Irish Cup win. Like Ards Coleraine were without a League game last weekend but did have a game against Formartine United from the Highland League in the Irn Bru cup which they won on penalties after extra time, earning the right to travel to Welsh side Connah's Quay Nomads in the next round.

Ards fans have only to look at their last outing for a confidence boost, when a disciplined team performance led to a point at the National Stadium against League leaders Linfield. Most Ards fans would expect a similar line-out in this game, but Dave Elebert is likely to be recovered from injury and if so will certainly be considered for a place in the starting eleven. The two recent signings have had mixed fortunes, Aaron Boyd played the first half against Glenavon Reserves at Mourneview Park on Wednesday and scored the opening goal in a creditable 2-2 draw, so while not yet fully match fit, may be hoping for a place on the bench. Ryan Strain however is not yet able to play as he is recovering from a wrist injury.
