Match Preview: Linfield (a)

LINFIELD vs ARDS.

DANSKE BANK PREMIERSHIP.

NATIONAL STADIUM/WINDSOR PARK.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 1st @ 3.00 p.m.

Supporters Bus: Gibson's Lane 2pm

Ards travel to take on Linfield with a couple of recent wins under their belt, an impressive 4-0 win over Newry to earn their first points of this season, which was followed by a less convincing 3-2 win over Newington in the League Cup last time out. Linfield sit top of the table with three wins and a draw from their first four league games and an 8-0 mauling of Moyola Park in the League Cup. Obviously current form and indeed recent matches between the two teams would make the Blues clear favourites. Last season saw Ards lose all three league fixtures to Linfield without scoring a goal, although Ards did win 1-0 at Windsor in the County Antrim Shield tie last October.

With the long term injury to Sean Noble, manager Colin Nixon has been trying to sign a replacement and it is not clear at the time of writing if this can be achieved before the transfer window shuts. In the absence of any new signings, the team on Saturday is likely to be on the usual lines, with Dave Elebert, who missed the Newington game as a precaution following his injury against Newry, hopefully ready to return.

Fans travelling to this game are encouraged to use the PASC bus which will be leaving Gibson's Lane/Social Club at 2.00 p.m.
