Match Preview : Warrenpoint Town [a]

Warrenpoint Town vs Ards.

D.B.P.

Q Radio Arena.

Saturday April 27th at 3.00 p.m.

The final league fixture of the 2018/19 season sees a resurgent Ards travel to Warrenpoint looking for the result that will guarantee an eleventh place finish and a play-off against either Carrick Rangers or Portadown to retain their status in the top division.

Seven points in the last three games has earned the Red and Blues a realistic chance of avoiding relegation and the odds are maybe just in their favour as they currently lead Newry City by three points and have a slightly superior goal difference. However a defeat on Saturday coupled with a win for Newry who host Dungannon Swifts could spell disaster for Warren Feeney's men, depending on the score lines.

Warrenpoint have beaten Dungannon 5-3 and drawn 2-2 at Glentoran since that surprising 4-2 loss at home to Newry so although they have nothing to play for they are difficult opponents and in games between the two this season Ards have only one point and two 1-0 defeats to show for their efforts. However Ards are currently unbeaten in their last three games, their best run of the season, so fans will be hoping that form continues.

Michael Kerr returns to the panel after completing his suspension, while both Kyle Cherry and Kym Nelson complete their respective bans. Hopefully David McAllister will be fit to be considered for a place in the starting line-up.

The PASC bus leaves the Social Club/Gibson's Lane at 1.00 p.m. and all supporters are again encouraged to use this convenient and trouble free way of getting to this important game.
