WARRENPOINT V ARDS MATCH PREVIEW

Lough 41 Championship.

Warrenpoint Town vs Ards.

Milltown.

Saturday 26th November at 3.00 p.m.

Ards make the journey to Warrenpoint for the second time this season with bad memories of their first visit in early September when a controversial decision cost them a late equaliser and meant they suffered a 2-1 defeat.

Warrenpoint were relegated from the Premiership last season and were among the favourites for promotion this season. Surprisingly they had a poor start, losing their first two games, but since then they have only suffered one defeat in the last 13 league games and that was to rival promotion contenders Dundela, so they will present a formidable task for Matthew Tipton's men.

Warrenpoint are currently in fourth spot with 28 points, three ahead of Ards and they have a game in hand on the other teams in the top half of the table. They are not prolific goalscorers, their total of 23 so far is the lowest of the top six teams, while Ards have notched 31, but obviously they have a habit of winning and have only conceded 17 compared to the 33 conceded by Ards. Their leading scorer is defender Luke Walsh with five goals but Alan O'Sullivan always seems to play well against Ards and has chipped in with three goals.

Ards main goal threat has come from Adam Salley and Eamon Scannell who are both in double figures for the season, although Ross Hunter and Ross Arthurs have also contributed with five and four respectively. Matthew Tipton seems to have settled on his favourite line up but will have to make at least one change from last week's battling draw with Ballyclare as team captain T.J.Murray is suspended having been sent off in the 36th minute of that game after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession, the second one possibly debatable.

Ards fans will be hoping to inflict the first defeat this month on their rivals and get the win that will keep them in the promotion chase.
