Ards 3 v 1 Dergview

A midweek clash saw Ards welcome tenth placed Dergview to the Bangor Fuels Arena. One change to the starting 11 who drew against Portadown, saw the suspended Kym Nelson replaced by Kyle Calderwood. In the first minute of play Michael McLellan’s close range strike was well saved by Paul Wells. Then, the away sides Garth Falconer had his volley denied by Brian Neeson. Ards had most of the play but the final ball wasn't good enough and after 30 minutes Dergview took the lead when Paul Smith was able to get the ball off Kyle Calderwood in a dangerous position and his well timed pass found Sean McCarron who put the visitors in the lead. Seconds later an Emmet McNabb volley was tipped on to the bar by Neeson as the away side looked to increase their lead. However the home side got the next goal when Jallow’s pass from the left hand side found Eamon McAllister, his first strike was blocked but he quickly regained possession and slid the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1. Then Jallow’s effort from outside the box was denied by Dergview keeper Wells. The half ended 1-1. Early in the second half skilful play from Eamon McAllister gave Jallow a great opportunity, however his chance was wide of the left hand post. Ards got their second with 17 minutes remaining when TJ Murray headed home Eamon McAllister’s corner to make it 2-1. The Dergview keeper was booked for disputing the award of the corner. As Ards looked to make the game safe, the busy Eamon McAllister had the chance to make it three when his strong shot looked goal bound however, he was denied by Wells. The home side continued to push for a third, this time it was substitute McConnell with the chance as, in the eighty third minute, his shot from range was just wide of the left hand post. Then, great skill from Jallow gave another substitute Dylan Wilson a chance right in front of goal, however, he failed to connect with the ball. In injury time Ards scored their third when Jallow again showed his skill with his low attempt from just inside the box beating Wells to make it 3-1. The game ended seconds later with Eamon McAllister picking up the Man Of The Match award. Another victory for Ards as the successful February results continue. Next up is Queens at the Dub this Saturday at 3.00 p.m. Team : Neeson, Young, McGovern, Taylor, Armstrong, D. McAllister, Murray, Calderwood, E.McAllister, Jallow, McLellan.
