Ards Football Club has been very fortunate in having the support of a Special Efforts Committee, in some shape or form, over many decades.  Indeed mention of Special Efforts Committees assisting the parent club goes back to the 1950s. The SEC have assisted in raising funds for many aspects of the running of the club, but chiefly for ground improvements.

The present group were formed at the commencement of the 2009/10 season.  Having met with the board, their remit was simple: to assist with the payment of ground rental.  This they have done ever since, back in 2009 the committee donated much needed revenue for the hire of Dixon Park in Ballyclare, today their efforts help alleviate the cost of hiring Clandeboye Park.

Main source of income comes from a very successful half time draw.  A hugely popular ballot is organised at Christmas time and an annual sponsored walk takes place towards the tail end of each season.  This venture also benefits the clubs chosen charity partner.
