Ballyclare 1 v 1 Ards

Ards looked to stop the current bad run they are on as they faced seventh placed Ballyclare.

In the opening stages of the game a well hit corner from Craig McMillen found Craig Harris, however his strike was off target.

In the ninth minute the home side opened the scoring when after a lovely run Gary Donnelly beat the last man and found the back of the net, 1-0.

Then Joseph Tully’s shot could only find the side netting 20 minutes in. Ards Scott McMillan then missed a free header after a lovely freekick from McMillen.

The away side levelled the scoring just after the half hour mark after McMillen was fouled in the box. Michael McLellan took the spot kick with his effort finding the bottom left corner to level the game. The half ended 1-1

At the beginning of the second half McLellan’s close range strike was well saved by Ben McCauley. Then, after being substituted Craig McMillen received his second yellow card following a verbal altercation with a spectator, meaning he will miss next Saturdays game.

Late on in the second half Ards had four consecutive corners but couldn’t take advantage of any of them. Then Thomas Robinson’s strike was well stopped by Brain Neeson.

In second half injury time Comrades stopper McCauley arguably pulled off his best save of the day when he denied Ben Cushnie’s strong strike. The game ended 1-1.

Next Saturday Ards welcome PSNI at the Bangor Fuels Arena.

Yellow cards- McMillen and McGovern.

Red cards- McMillen
