Former Ards player John Anderson has passed away


John Anderson who played for Ards in the 1960s has passed away,

He made his debut on the 15 Aug, 1964 v Bangor at Castlereagh Park making 209

Appearances -and scoring 21 goals.

Manager George Eastham referred to him as the 'Billy Bremner of Irish football'

He was a disciple of Eastham and played in Europe under him for 3 different clubs - Ards, Distillery & Glentoran

ANDERSON, JOHN – passed away 7th June 2023, peacefully, at home. Beloved husband of Lesley for 59 years, much loved dad of John and Gillian, proudest granda of Mark, Gemma, Stuart, John and Luis, and great grandchildren Elijah and Freddie, father-in-law of Susie. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held on Wednesday 14th June 2023 at 11.00 am in Christ Church, Dundonald, followed by burial in Dundonald cemetery at 12 noon. Family flowers only please.
